FLORIDA HOSPITAL EAST ORLANDO: Duchess Kate Middleton Highlights Importance of Midwifery Care

By Press release submission | | Dec 31, 2019

Florida Hospital East Orlando issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.

A health care journey can be a winding road with a lot of natural and unexpected health changes. As a mother of three, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton recognizes the importance of compassionate care. And in November, she spent time touring the maternity ward at Kingston Hospital, where she birthed all three of her children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Duchess was so moved by the way the midwives administered care that she recently penned a letter thanking the team for hosting her and providing the experience.

"No matter the setting, I was continually struck by the compassion that those of you I spent time with showed, and the incredible work ethic you demonstrated on behalf of your entire profession -- not only performing your rounds but working tirelessly through the night to support people that were at their most vulnerable," she wrote.

At AdventHealth, we agree. From well-woman care and prevention to family planning, conception, pregnancy, delivery, post-partum and even breast health — there’s one thing that can remain consistent: a woman’s active decision-making in her health care.

And that is the very focus of our certified nurse midwives.

While many people assume that midwives only deliver babies via home birth, this is far from the truth. In fact, nurse midwives are highly trained and credentialed to provide comprehensive women’s care for life.
