Audrey Bohn Conrad, 89, passed away at home with her family at her bedside on November 20, 2019. She was born on July 7, 1930, to Oscar and Augusta (Ehlers) Bohn, in Forbes, North Dakota. At the age of 3, Audrey was run over by a Model T car. The driver never stopped, as the driver thought she was just a bump in the road. She grew up in Mobridge, South Dakota and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota her senior year of high school. In 1948, she graduated from Washburn High School and graduated from Minneapolis Business College in 1949. She met Marvin Conrad in 1950, and they were married on November 10, 1951. Her first child, Steven, was born in Torrance, California, in 1952. The following year in 1953 a daughter, Linda, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Throughout Audrey’s life, she and Marvin purchased many businesses such as duplexes, motels, restaurants, and a resort, which relocated them to many different states including California, Oregon, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Washington State, and Idaho. Audrey and Marvin also lived in Venezuela for a short time in the 50s while Marvin worked there as a mechanical engineer. In her final years, she moved to Florida to be near her daughter and son-in-law and eventually lived with them. Audrey enjoyed playing bridge, golf, and bingo; drinking Carlos Rossi Chablis; telling everyone about her “roots”; watching FoxNews; and cruising. Her final cruise was through the Panama Canal with John and Linda; it was her dream vacation.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Linda Mera, and her husband, John, of Orlando, Florida; her son, Steve Conrad, and his wife, Lori, of Bella Vista, Arkansas; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonita Risnes of Stacy, Minnesota.
