City of Maitland issued the following announcement on Nov. 4.
Maitland's biggest event of the year - the Maitland Rotary Art Festival - will start a big weekend of art, music and food with a special Art Under the Stars fireworks show this Friday night at Lake Lily Park.
The 43rd annual festival will feature more than 130 talented artists, showcasing a variety of mediums including sculpture, painting, ceramics, photography and glass.
Each artist will be judged for top honors in their category. Festival guests can meet the artists and view their work while strolling the scenic walkways surrounding Maitland’s Lake Lily.
See young and upcoming artists. The festival features a large display of student artwork with school submissions from Orange and Seminole counties.
Hours run from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
At 9 p.m. on Friday night, sponsor, WORLD ART, will launch its inaugural awards ceremony with a new international art award, the WORLD ART Exhibition Award, bestowed to the top exhibiting artist(s) in the categories of relevance, originality and mastery. Participating artists and student artists are eligible.
Immediately following the awards will be a salute to veterans with the National Anthem, culminating with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Live music entertainment coordinated by Performing Arts Matters includes Joe Hughes of Goldenseal and the Maitland Stage Band with Jim Foy on Friday.
The art festival will also include additional salutes to our veterans for Veterans Day weekend and a tribute from Kendra Young at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Saturday also includes entertainment from The Forefathers, Kayonne Riley Downtown Trio, the Neon Rockits, Luke Wagner and the 441 and Life on Mars with Dave Schweizer.
Sunday includes the Dan Jordan Trio, Ukiah, Anita
Drink, and Cat Ridgeway and The Tourists.
The Maitland Rotary Art Festival will feature great
food, drinks and vendors. Admission is free. Parking is
available around Lake Lily Park.
The Maitland Rotary Art Festival has been entertaining Central Florida residents and visitors since 1976. Although hosted annually by the Rotary Club of Maitland, the event has evolved into a community celebration of the arts in the heart of the City of Maitland. Many public and private partnerships make it possible for Maitland Rotarians to showcase the community.
The Maitland Rotary Art Festival Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that raises funds for the charitable activities of the Rotary Club of Maitland. Those activities include financial support of other local charities.
